Luca Rossini
Gender: Male
Species: Were-tiger
Age: 24
Appearance:
He has black hair with a ginger strips running down the left hand side, a couple of inches long, that is slightly wavy and tends to fall in front of his eyes when he least wants it to. He has amber eyes and a good-looking face, and generally an away-with-the-fairies expression. He has quite a muscular build and is just over six feet tall.
He usually wears a pair of jeans, torn at the knee, and a t-shirt with a big slogan on it that changes from day to day. He is usually barefoot and bareheaded, and never wears a jumper because he has no need for it.
Personality: He’s a bit of a dreamer, and you rarely know what he’s thinking. It always looks like he’s not all there, but he’s actually quite on the ball at all times. Anyone who tries to take advantage of his absent-mindedness will find themselves with his hand at their throat and about to choke the life out of them.
He doesn’t care about what other people think and does what is most comfortable for him. He only says what he thinks is the truth, or he doesn’t say anything at all.
He has good instincts that alert him to danger when he is off in his own little world.
He acts lazy and relaxed most of the time, which helps people he likes to let down their guard, and makes enemies underestimate him. He makes friends easily.
He’s a very tactile person and likes touching things. He is rarely still and when he looks completely still, he is usually dying to get moving.
Strengths/Powers:
Enhanced senses: During the day his eyesight is about the same as a human’s, but at night time it is about three times better, enabling him to see a lot more than most humans. He can hear things a little bit lower and a lot higher than the human range of hearing. He uses his sense of smell to identify individuals and territories.
Strength and speed: He is very strong and fast by human standards – a little above average by were-creature standards – but tends not to advertise it. He does things with the minimal effort necessary. This means he can fight fairly well, but aims to avoid it.
Intelligence: You wouldn’t know it to look at him, but Luca is actually fairly smart. His general knowledge is poor, so he can often come across as naïve, but he is quick to pick up on an idea, has a good memory, and can improvise really well.
Weaknesses:
Lack of impulse control: When he sees some sort of injustice, it would take quite a lot of manpower to keep him from striding in there and trying to help. He is often so blinded by this that he can get into something over his head, or step into a situation where he is unneeded/unwanted. He can conceal his anger at various situations and bide his time, but the anger won’t go away and eventually he will explode.
Vacant: His inability to stay fully focussed in the real world when it’s not strictly necessary can be irritating to companions and sometimes leaves him confused about exactly what was going on when he zones back into the real world.
Shape-changing: He can’t control it, it’s intensely painful, and it happens at the most inopportune times. It never happens when he could do with it (like in a fight). The most public time it ever occurred was in a posh restaurant and suddenly at the smell of all that steak he was a beautiful big tiger. The owner didn’t appreciate it, though, and he got banned. There isn’t a specific rigger – it just happens.
Possessions: The traditional blanket wrapped around a stick. The blanket is what keeps him warm at night. During the day, the blanket holds a steak knife, fork and spoon, the necessities for life, spare clothes, wash kit etc. It is tied in such a way that if Luca is attacked, he can remove the blanket, put it on the ground, and attack with the pole without everything falling out of it. Even with everything still attached to the pole, he can attack with it and nothing will fall off; it’s just a little bit unwieldy. Other than that, he barely gets by.
History: Luca was born after the war ended and the world collapsed in on itself, so he doesn’t know any world or life other than the one he has grown up with. He was raised in Rio de Janeiro by his mother, a witch, who was very disappointed when he showed absolutely no aptitude for her craft. His father, a were-tiger, was just one of many men in his mother’s life, and no one knows who or where he is.
Luca’s mother was killed when he was about twelve during a territory dispute, and he was taken into one of the Rio gangs, run by a man named Giorgio Sanchez, and managed to survive against the odds. He was soon decreed incapable because of his relaxed way of living, and was given the most dangerous and least important tasks to do because he was expendable.
When he was nineteen, the gang was absorbed into another, larger territory with the gang members consisting mostly of snake-shifters. He wasn’t welcome there, but shrugged off his bad luck and decided to make a life for himself elsewhere.
For the past three years, he has travelled to various places. He was a pirate for a year or so, lived in Tokyo for a couple of months, and attempted to get into New York without success. He has avoided England like the plague because of the high level of discrimination reputed to be there.
Notes: He would never live in Moscow or anywhere else particularly cold, but anywhere else, including the wilds, is fair game. England is a possibility, but an unlikely one.
